TK Academy & First Grade Learning Academy are designed to give our youngest students a strong, joyful start to school through caring instruction, small-group support, and playful, hands-on learning. Attending both Parent Orientation and the Closing Ceremony helps families stay informed, supports a smooth start, and gives students the chance to be publicly celebrated for their hard work.

​Classes and teaching teams

​Our TK Academy and First Grade Learning Academy classes are led by credentialed, experienced teachers who specialize in working with young children. BASIC scholar aides support each classroom, helping us give students more individual attention and small‑group guidance. Lessons are thoughtfully designed to build early literacy, math, and school‑ready skills, while encouraging curiosity, confidence, and meaningful growth over the summer.

We are deeply grateful to our community partners for providing these enrichment programs at no cost to BASIC's Academies.

Meals

​Breakfast, snack, and lunch are generously provided by the Borrego Springs Unified School District for TK Academy and First Grade Learning Academy students. School meals follow state and federal nutrition guidelines and are designed to give students the healthy food and energy they need to learn and participate fully each day.
